Fun comes in multiples

This isn't on topic, but Waverley is SUCH a wiggle worm! It feels like she's doing flips -and for an 8 month baked baby doing major resituating that equals some major discomfort. But I don't mind. I think she's just fickle.

Now, on topic. Inspired by some Flickr friends and their montages I made a couple vignettes of my own.
Insta-mint hot chocolate. It's easy, the photos are really unnecessary, and it's delicious. Basically just add a peppermint wheel or candy cane to your hot chocolate and you've accomplished a higher degree of deliciousness. Shown in a Barbara Lavallee Alaskan mug. One of my favorite collections.
Wilder is a master stacker. It's his art form. From nesting cups, stacking blocks and now moving on to these lego-type pieces, Wilder loves to stack vertically and horizontally. He is meticulous about lining things up. For a little guy who reeks chaos, he has an amazingly orderly streak. Imagine the Muppets -Animal meets Dr./Mr. Honeydew. Weird.

Sending our love! Have a wonderful day!

A Little Fun with Mama & Son

Wilder and I had a little photo shoot today. Here he is in the midst of closing the door on me -multiple times. Apparently Mommy wasn't allowed back in the house...
Ah-ha! I managed to snap a few more during a brief moment the door was open again. Gottcha, little dude!

Playing with high contrast (my fav) and wondering how this set up would work for when I get serious about taking new headshots. Brian agreed to be the button presser so I can set up the tripod and -in more even light- take my own headshots. Very fun AND a family affair!

Nice light, but I have to work on the background...
And just being a little goofy, while fiddling with texturing effects in Photoshop. Oh, it's good to explore, to try new things, to have a bit of fun.

32 Weeks

It dawned on me today that the last time I took any belly photos were at 19 weeks. I'm not 32 weeks pregnant and, by golly, I better start snapping! Here are some (rather stagnant) shots of the wee one baking.

Crystal, this cheesy one is just for you. I love you, sister!
The "Wife, Mother, Photographer" shot. I just had to :)

Georgetown Christmas Stroll

Here are a few of my favorite shots from the Christmas Stroll in Georgetown. On my photography blog I have a handful more and the Flickr set. Here's the link to my other blog so you can enjoy just THAT much more of our hometown!
Passing out candy to spectators.
No, this isn't Wilder, but ain't he cute?!
Okay, I LOVE the kid in the middle. He was a hoot!
This boy scout brakes it down with his mad hoola-hoop skills.
At Bethlehem Village the townswomen shake their tail feathers and clap their hands for the Lord. It's a party town.
Spectators of the live Nativity play in Bethlehem Village. My question: Where's the 3rd king?

Saturday Morning

Chilly Saturday morning. Perfect for being lazy, pj-ed and covered in raspberry jam (at least for Wilder.) We later headed out to the annual Georgetown Christmas Stroll and have over 300 photos uploaded onto Flickr of the fun parade, neat local folks, booths, vendors and events of the day (well, from noon-3pm while we were there.) I'll post a few of my favorite shots next and include the link to the Flickr set.
Savannah begging for my scrambled eggs. "Down, girl. Sit! Okay, you can have my eggs."
Wilder's favorite nook (behind the fake Christmas tree is his runner up.)
Warm toes. I love SmartWool socks.
Wilder was telling me a story while I snapped pictures of him. He likes the camera.

Here are a few of the vendors from the Georgetown Christmas Stroll that I really enjoyed:

Baskets & More by Jackie Thomas
Georgetown, TX
basketsbyjackie@verizon.net

Handmade Baby Things by Jessica Kirk
j_akirk@yahoo.com

Barefoot Pottery
Denise Turner & Amy Warnock
Cedar Park, TX
barefootpottery@gmail.com

MD Cards & Gifts

*Carianne Jewelry*
(LOVED her stuff! Custom handstamped silver jewelry)
Carianne Schulte
I would love to order a necklace or bracelet or ring from her and have Wilder and Waverley printed on it. I nearly cried when I was imagining the possibilities and looking at her beautiful work.

Christmas Baking

Rolling out the sugar cookies, having a morning movie marathon of Christmas movies, a few small snow flurries -it's definitely the holidays at our household! Here are some photos of the cookies in progress (which are now digesting.) Happy Holidays!

Let's not do that again

I know, you've had your head slightly tilted wondering what in the heck I think I'm doing making so many big plans, expecting a new baby and going 100 miles an hour. Okay, 150. I know I've been needing to put on the breaks and it's slowly been coming to that until yesterday -when I came to a screeching halt.

Yesterday around 3pm my sciatic nerve clinched me and I was left helpless on the living room floor, bawling my eyes out -which of course made Wilder go bananas. It hurt (understatement) to move, but I managed to drag myself to my cell phone, which thankfully was right next to the TV and DVD remotes, and eventually pull myself on to the couch while I waited for Brian to come home. I prayed that Wilder wouldn't get into anything or hurt himself and thankfully by the time Brian got home (around 4:30pm) he -and the house- were in tact.

Poor Brian was just coming off 3 full days and nights living outdoors in cold, wet Texas weather -the coldest week we've had this season- and had to come home to a toddler and helpless wife, so helpless he had to carry me to the restroom and back. He is such a trooper (another understatement.) In a way it was a taste of life for the first week or so after Waverley is born, but I am planning on still being able to at least walk myself to the restroom. Or crawl. I'd happily crawl. Being immobile is terrifying, especially when you have a toddler to take care of and a to do list that seems as long as your arm. But there I lay, watching Christmas movies while Brian chased, fed, chased, bathed, chased and bedded Wilder down for the night.

After about 6 hours I regained mobility, took a hot shower to further relax my back and soon after went to bed. I am petrified of this happening again and have been taking all precautions to ensure to the best of my ability that it does not reoccur.

The point is this was a big, fat sign to slow the heck down, take stock in what is really important, and also realize my limitations. I'm still figuring it all out, but it's clear to me that I need to keep remembering that I'm not what I do, but who I am. And it's not so much what I do, but how I invest in other's lives. Both of these things I want to focus on, particularly in this special season of love.

Thank you for your prayers
