Fauxmade Maple Syrup

Fauxmade maple syrup for your homemade pancakes? Easy.

Make a simple syrup by boiling 2 cups of water and 2 cups of white sugar, plus about 1/4 c brown. Careful not to over boil or you'll end up with hard candy.

Add several teaspoons of imitation maple flavoring and 1 tsp. vanilla extract (imitation butter flavoring would be nice, too, but I don't have any.) Add salt, to taste.

The most important thing is to not let it cook too long. I haven't mastered it yet since I just made it up this morning (someone surely has a more precise recipe somewhere) but I look forward to never having to go down the aisle at Walmart and sift through the choices of syrup looking for the right price and the right flavor. Custom make your own at home!
